Brewing Up for 2012
"Bringing it to the Boil" is the first part of Festive Road's show stopping new  project called "Brewing Up", this unique three year exploration sets out to discover, through carnival arts, the specific qualities and conditions needed to make and enjoy the perfect cup of tea.

‘Bringing it to the Boil' is a musical and visual experiment that brings together performers and young musicians from the South East region. It fuses Dhol drumming, Samba drumming, and Brass, to celebrate our tea drinking nation and make new and exciting ‘tea time' sounds, the likes of which have never been heard before!

Brewing Up has been awarded the prestigious Inspire Mark in recognition of it being an outstanding and innovative project.

Kettle Band & High Tea Performance
The Music focuses around a gigantic mobile Kettle, all whistling and steaming. At intervals the audience will be invited to be seated and served ‘High Tea' by performers dressed as tea cups, butlers and much more...
We will be providing people with opportunities to take time out of their busy lives and ‘have a cup of tea'. These metophoric tea drinking sessions will provide us with opportunities to engage people in our question "If making tea was an Olympic sport, what qualities are needed to make the perfect cup?"
We are interested to find out why people drink tea? What conditions make a good ‘cuppa'? How tea can be used to bring people together?

Opportunities for Young Musicians!
Festive Road are inviting young musicians, especially brass players, to join the Kettle Band. The band is an experimental new collaboration between Samba,Dhol drumming and Brass that has developed its own unique tea inspired sound. The Project is facilitated by Mat Fox from Kinetika's Bloco.
